Parfum d’Automne invites you to explore a lesser-known region of Northern Vietnam: Hoang Su Phi (a district in Ha Giang Province). This district boasts stunning terraced rice fields and is home to a significant number of ethnic minorities (12 different ethnic groups).

This itinerary will introduce you to the cultures of four of these groups: the Flower Hmong, Red Dao, Dao in long tunics, and the Nung people.

Prepare for unforgettable moments with these welcoming communities. With the guidance of our English-speaking tour guide, you will discover the cultures and ways of life of these people who shape the landscapes of Northern Vietnam through their agricultural work.

Please note that the program requires good physical fitness (more than 10 km per day on rugged terrain).

Ha Noi - Tuyen Quang - Nam Hong (Red Dao ethnie)
Depart by car with our guide and driver to the high mountains of Ha Giang, a region located in the far north of the country, near the Chinese border. Along the way, we will make stops in traditional villages, green tea plantations, and terraced rice fields, allowing you to discover the rural mountain life of northern Vietnam. Lunch will be at a local restaurant during the journey. Upon arrival in Ha Giang in the afternoon, you will be accommodated in a Red Dao house traditionally built amidst the mountains and terraced rice fields of the Hoang Su Phi valley. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the village with your guide. Dinner and overnight stay with the Red Dao community.

Nam Hong - Nam Ty (Hmong ethnie)
From valleys to mountain passes, we discover this region that has been kept secret due to its isolation, where mountainous ethnic groups make a living from Shan tea cultivation, cardamom harvesting, and the collection of numerous medicinal plants for the Chinese market. The inhabitants have divided the territory into a kind of mosaic based on altitudes, with the Hmong living at the highest points, the Yaos on the mountain slopes between 500 and 1000 meters, and the Tays in the fertile valley bottoms. Foreign to each other, with different customs and languages, they are nevertheless neighbors. During this day, we encounter Hmong and Red Dzao communities. Dinner and overnight stay with the Hmong community.

Nam Ty - Nam Ai (Dao ethnie)
We start our day by exploring splendid views of terraced rice fields sculpted on the mountain slopes. Then we descend to the village of Nam Son and continue our walk to a small village inhabited by the Black Dao people. We share our lunch with a family from the village. In the afternoon, some uphill and downhill walks through forests, terraced rice fields, century-old tea plantations, and villages (Red and Black Dao) lead us to the hamlet of Nam Ai. We sleep in a house amidst the rice fields with the Black Dao community. Dinner with the family and the local team. Dinner and overnight stay with the Black Dao (or Black Dao Long Tunic).

Nam Ai - Nam Khoa (Nung ethnie)
It's a wonderful day of hiking along the terraced rice fields that awaits you. Daily life unfolds in the fields, in the forest, on the trails... We encounter the locals and discover their daily routines. Dinner and overnight stay with a Nung ethnic community.

Nam Khoa – Lang Giang (Tay ethnie)
Breakfast. Hike to the village of Lang Giang. Visit a mountain school. Interaction with the Tay population. Dinner and overnight stay with the locals.

Lang Giang – Tuyen Quang – Hanoi
Breakfast at your hosts' place, then you will walk for a few minutes to return to the car. The car will take you back to Hanoi. Arrival in Hanoi around 5 pm - 6 pm. Transfer to the airport if needed.
