Central Vietnam : practical information

Visitors are often charmed by the warm welcome they receive from the people living in Central Vietnam and the relaxed atmosphere that prevails there… According to us, the weather plays a big role as the temperatures are much milder in the South, even though there is a very intense rainy season! You will therefore need to choose your timing carefully if you don’t want to get wet! During the high tourist season, you will not be alone in the Hoi An area… While it is still possible to feel like an explorer in Northern Vietnam, it has become very difficult in the Center. However, it is still possible to discover the surroundings of Hoi An in peace and quiet.

Climate in Central Vietnam

We placed Phong Nha Ke Bang in Central Vietnam for geographical reasons, not climatic ones! The climate on-site is more similar to that of the North with distinct seasons and a real winter (November-December). Further south, from Hue onwards, the situation changes: the year is marked by two seasons, the dry season from February to July and the rainy season from August to January. The best time to visit Hue, Danang, and Hoi An is from February to the end of May. Then the rainy season settles in, intensifying more and more and welcoming typhoons at the end of the year. Towards November, it is not uncommon to see Hoi An flooded and become a small Venice…

Central Vietnam cuisine

The cuisine of Central Vietnam is dominated by the gastronomy dating back to the court of the Emperors in Hue. This refined cuisine, with a greater use of spicy flavors, is the pride of the region and is recognized as one of the best in Vietnam. The iconic dish is the Bun Bo Hue, which you won’t want to miss during your visit to the city. We can organize a food tour in Hue for you if you want to taste a wide variety of dishes and discover the city in a different way at nightfall. We invite you to discover our 20 must-try dishes in Vietnam to learn more.

The most beautiful destination of Central Vietnam

The landscapes of Phong Nha Ke Bang, especially its caves, are very spectacular, an ideal place for adventure. Further down, the terrain is less rugged and you will likely be more charmed by the cities of Hue and Hoi An, as well as the archaeological site of My Son.
