A city like Hanoi offers a huge range of accommodation, in terms of comfort, price and location. Choosing can be difficult, despite the many rankings offered by booking platforms.
Our travel agency is based in Hanoi, so we have chosen to present hotels we know very well and work with very often.
We present these hotels by location, as three neighborhoods concentrate the vast majority of hotels. Since the 2025 administrative reform, Hanoi’s former urban districts have been replaced by wards (phường), but the names Hoan Kiem, Ba Dinh and Tay Ho are still used every day.
And if you would like to organize your trip to Vietnam, contact us for a tailor-made itinerary.

Where to stay in the Hoan Kiem neighborhood?
Hoan Kiem, around the small central lake, is home to most of Hanoi’s hotels, including those in the Old Quarter.
We have chosen to include mainly hotels located in the Hoan Kiem neighborhood. Hoan Kiem is the name of the small lake in the center of Hanoi, and the neighborhood covers the whole area around it, including the Old Quarter, also known as the “36 Streets”.
Most of the capital’s hotels are located here. It is a very dense area where houses stand side by side. If you choose a hotel in Hoan Kiem, you can explore much of the city on foot.
Upscale hotels
Sofitel Legend Metropole
5-star hotel
Address: 15 Ngo Quyen, Hoan Kiem
Website: www.sofitel-legend-metropole-hanoi.com
Price: over €300 per night
This is the iconic five-star hotel of the Vietnamese capital. Built in 1901, it has come through the ages remarkably well and is still considered the most luxurious and elegant hotel in Hanoi. Its superb spa, with separate treatment rooms, lets you fully unwind after a day of sightseeing.
Hôtel de l’Opéra MGallery
5-star hotel
Address: 29 Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem
Website: hoteldelopera.com
Price: about €100 to €150 per night
Another very classy hotel, part of Accor’s MGallery collection. With its colorful decor, it stands in the heart of the former French colonial quarter, next to the Opera House on Trang Tien Street. Its indoor pool on the 3rd floor overlooks Hoan Kiem Lake, and the spa on the same floor is perfect for relaxing after a day of visits or meetings.
Hanoi La Siesta Central Hotel
4-star hotel
Address: 1B Cau Go, Hoan Kiem
Website: lasiestahotels.vn/caugo
Price: about €80 (double room) to €160 (premium suite with terrace)
This is the upscale hotel chain we like best! La Siesta has several hotels in Hanoi. La Siesta Central is the most luxurious, but all of them are superb. Some rooms have their own terrace, a real luxury given how dense the center of Hanoi is. Perfect for a honeymoon.
The hotel also has a rooftop bar overlooking the whole Old Quarter, and each hotel of the chain has its own “La Spa”. For a lower price with the same attention to guests, we recommend Hanoi La Siesta Hotel & Spa on Ma May Street: about €60 for a deluxe room and €120 for an executive room.
Charming boutique hotels
Alongside these large luxury hotels are many smaller, more affordable charming hotels, also known as boutique hotels, each with its own personality, far from the chains.
Essence d’Orient Hotel & Spa (formerly Essence Hanoi)
4-star hotel
Address: 22 Ta Hien, Hoan Kiem
Price: about €60 to €80
A hotel our travelers love, on Ta Hien Street in the heart of the Old Quarter. A small haven of peace in the middle of the bustle, with a spa for relaxing at the end of the day.
Maison d’Orient
3-star hotel
Address: 26 Ngo Huyen, Hang Trong, Hoan Kiem
Price: €30 to €60 (double to family room)
French-speaking staff. One of our favorite small hotels in Hanoi! Tucked away at the end of a small lane close to the Cathedral, the hotel and its rooms are full of charm. Rooms are named after spices (cinnamon, lemongrass, pepper, ginger, star anise…), each decorated on its theme. Note that the hotel has no elevator: the lovely Ginger room with terrace is on the 5th floor, but the staff will help with your luggage.
Breakfast is included and dinner is available on site. Given the hotel’s popularity with French-speaking guests, the owner has hired a French-speaking receptionist.
Hanoi La Selva Hotel
3-star hotel
Address: 57 Lo Su, Hoan Kiem
Website: www.hanoilaselvahotel.com
Price: about €45 for a deluxe room with window and €60 for a suite with terrace
A hotel very popular with travelers! Behind a fairly plain façade, the interior features colorful, tastefully decorated walls and windows. We recommend booking at least the “deluxe executive room”, which has a window. For couples or small families, the “terrace suite city view” has a private terrace.
The Pilgrim Hotel
3-star hotel
Address: 52 Au Trieu, Hoan Kiem
Website: thepilgrim.hotels-in-hanoi.net
French-speaking staff. Rodolphe and his Vietnamese wife run this hotel with great care. Located next to St. Joseph’s Cathedral, it offers everything you need for a stay in the capital: bright, clean rooms, some with a view of the cathedral. Rodolphe is at the hotel every day and will happily share his advice.
Guesthouses
Y Lan Guesthouse
2-star guesthouse
Address: 29 Hai Ba Trung, Hoan Kiem
Price: €25 to €40 per room
This is the hidden Hanoi! This old house, once home to a prominent notable, is a small haven of peace in the heart of the capital. You will love the old residence and its courtyard full of plants. Rooms have a private bathroom and a small terrace. The best way to book is to contact us or to go there directly.
Budget hotels
Central Hanoi is full of small backpacker hotels with low-cost rooms, but unpleasant surprises are not uncommon. Here is an address that guarantees good comfort for a small price.
Little Charm Hanoi Hostel
2-3 star hostel
Address: 44 Hang Bo, Hoan Kiem
Price: €8 to €12 per bed in a dormitory
Our favorite hostel in the capital! Right in the heart of the Old Quarter, with charming staff, it offers dormitories of 4, 6 or 8 beds, some reserved for women only. It also has a restaurant and a small swimming pool, and short guided walks in the Old Quarter are organized every day.
Where to stay in the Ba Dinh neighborhood?
Ba Dinh lets you stay a little away from the bustle of the center, close to sights such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
Most hotels are in Hoan Kiem, but you can also choose accommodation slightly away from the center, close to attractions such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. This area is quieter than Hoan Kiem.
Hanoi Le Jardin Hotel & Spa
4-star hotel
Address: 46A Nguyen Truong To, Ba Dinh
Website: lejardinhotels.com
Price: €60 (classic double room) to €140 (executive suite)
This four-star hotel is close to Long Bien Bridge and Truc Bach Lake: a very good option if you fear the noise of Hoan Kiem. It offers five room types, from the 21 m² classic double room with window to the luxurious 60 m² suite, including a premium double room with balcony. It also has a restaurant, Khuê, and a spa.
Where to stay in the Tay Ho neighborhood?
Tay Ho, around West Lake, is popular with expatriates and ideal for a stay away from the bustle of the Old Quarter.
This is Hanoi’s other “center”. The shores of West Lake are where many Western expatriates live. If you find the Old Quarter a little overwhelming, a hotel here may be the answer. The main hotels are upscale, with few budget options.
InterContinental Hanoi Westlake
5-star hotel
Address: 1A Nghi Tam, Tay Ho
Website: hanoi.intercontinental.com
Price: from €120 per room
The InterContinental brand’s Hanoi property stands out for its pavilions built on stilts that seem to float on West Lake. It has two restaurants, a café and the Sunset Bar. Ideal for a romantic stay or for business travelers.
Somerset West Point Hanoi
5-star serviced apartments
Address: 2 Tay Ho Road, Tay Ho
Price: studios from €100 per night
Somerset offers luxury apartments to rent by the night. Breakfast is not included, but there are many services: a lovely pool open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., a gym, a sauna and a very pleasant lounge.
Parosand Hanoi Hotel
4-star hotel
Address: 537 Lac Long Quan, Tay Ho
Website: www.parosand.com/en
Price: €60 (deluxe room) to €100 (studio with West Lake view)
A hotel little known to Western travelers. Designed in a Japanese style, it mainly welcomes Japanese and Korean guests, on the west shore of the lake. Its rooftop Pilot Bar offers an open view of the whole of West Lake: perfect for a drink in the late afternoon!
