The best beach destination
With its 3,000 kilometers of coastline, Vietnam offers ample opportunities for you to enjoy a delightful beach vacation. Discover below the most beautiful destinations that will allow you to relax with your feet in the water.
North Vietnam
Your first choice could, of course, be Halong Bay, the must-visit destination when touring Vietnam. You can combine a junk boat cruise with a beach vacation.
Our destination recommendation: opt for Lan Ha Bay for your cruise and Cat Ba Island rather than Halong Bay for your relaxation time. You could also consider Quan Lan Island, which is relatively unknown and could meet your desires for tranquility and rest.
Our weather advice: for a beach stay, prefer the period from May to October. You might experience some rainfall, but the weather is warm and generally sunny. Winter arrives in December, and the weather is gray and quite cold until April.
Central Vietnam
In Central Vietnam, you’ll have many more options for your beach vacation. In fact, most of the finest resorts are located in Central Vietnam.
Long Co peninsula
Located on National Route A1, 30 km from Danang and 70 km south of Hue, Lang Co Beach is an ideal spot for travelers looking to enjoy a swim away from the crowds! With coves, over 10 kilometers of fine white sand, crystal-clear waters, and lush surrounding nature, Lang Co is a little paradise! If you truly enjoy the place, you can even stay there. A beautiful establishment called Laguna Lang Co provides a perfect setting for relaxation during your stay.
Danang beaches
Danang is one of the preferred destinations for vacationers. Coming from Northern Vietnam, it is the country’s first major beach resort. The city boasts over 90 kilometers of coastline, stretching from the Hai Van Pass to the Marble Mountains. Along this entire length, beautiful beaches have been developed, such as My Khe, Nam O, Xuan Thieu, Thanh Binh, Son Tra, Bac My An, and Non Nuoc. Numerous hotels line these beaches, giving you a wide range of choices for your accommodation!
Hoi An
The small port town of Hoi An has a lot to offer you: a charming old town, cuisine renowned throughout the country, peaceful countryside surroundings, and also stunning beaches in the vicinity. The Hoi An municipality has a relatively long coastline with three developed beaches.
Weather in Central Vietnam
If you’re considering an extended beach stay in the central part of the country, we recommend the period from January to June. If you want to avoid extreme heat, the months of January, February, and March are preferable. In any case, avoid the period from September to December, as it’s the season of heavy rainfall.
South Vietnam
Let’s go further down the country to reach its southern part. We have five preferred destinations: Quy Nhon, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, Con Dao, and Phu Quoc.
Quy Nhon
In recent years, Quy Nhon has been welcoming numerous Vietnamese and foreign tourists for beach vacations. Many Vietnamese people enjoy staying there, especially to savor the highly renowned seafood. The region also offers visitors beautiful landscapes. The crystal-clear waters and white sandy beaches captivate tourists who can also embark on an adventure to the nearby islands…
Nha Trang
Along with Danang, it is perhaps the most well-known beach resort in Vietnam. Therefore, there is a significant offering of quality resorts, and you’ll have plenty of choices! You can also explore the Cam Ranh Bay and Nui Chua National Park to the south of the city. If you wish to discover the region’s history, you could also visit the My Son Sanctuary.
Mui Ne
Mui Ne is the beach resort town of Phan Thiet in Binh Thuan province. Located halfway between Nha Trang and Ho Chi Minh City, Mui Ne is primarily known to outdoor sports enthusiasts. Constant winds along this coast make it ideal for windsurfing, kitesurfing, and other water sports year-round.
Con Dao island
Con Dao Island is an archipelago of 16 islands, but only one of them is inhabited: Con Son. Con Dao is the perfect place for diving! Beautiful coral reefs surround the island, and you can spot colorful fish, turtles, and perhaps even dolphins. Con Dao Island also hosts a 20,000-hectare national park where you can enjoy some scenic hikes. The park entrance fee is 60,000 VND (2.5 USD) per person. At the Park Office, you can obtain a hiking trail map in English.
Phu Quoc island
Located at the southernmost tip of Vietnam, Phu Quoc is the country’s largest island. We recommend Bai Truong Beach on the southwest coast, Bai So and Bai Dam beaches on the southeast, as well as the wild bays of Bai Ong Lang in the north. It is now possible to organize scuba diving sessions at several locations on the island for coral enthusiasts. The water is warm and shallow, allowing you to discover tropical fish and colorful reefs all year round!
Weather in South Vietnam
For the entire southern Vietnam, we recommend the period from November to April for your beach vacation. There are heavy rains from May to October. During the summer, typhoons can form, and we do not recommend this period for island visits. Temperatures remain fairly consistent throughout the year.
