Itinerary

Day 1
Hanoi - Sapa - Suoi Ho valley (L, D)

Your adventure begins at 6:30 AM with pick-up from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter. The shared shuttle to Sapa (departure at 7:00 AM) is already an experience in itself, gradually revealing the mountainous landscapes of northern Vietnam. Arrival in Sapa around 1:30 PM, where you will be welcomed by your French-speaking local guide, a true bridge between your world and that of the ethnic minorities.

You head straight to the Suoi Ho Valley, a lush, relatively flat area that offers the perfect introduction to the beauty of the region. This first hike, deliberately accessible, allows you to admire the stunning scenery without excessive effort — ideal for acclimatizing to the altitude and mountain environment. The terraced rice fields unfold like a natural amphitheater, sculpted over generations by local farmers.

The day ends with a special moment: dinner and overnight in a homestay hosted by a Dao family. This first immersion in local culture immediately transforms your perception of travel. Shared conversations, observing daily gestures, and the sincere hospitality of your hosts create an authentic connection that goes far beyond the usual tourist experience.

Day 2
Suoi Ho - Muong Hoa valley - Hau Thao village (B, L, D)

After breakfast with your hosts, your second day brings more ambitious challenges. The ascent of the Hang Da plateau is the first test of the day, rewarded with breathtaking panoramas across the entire region. Crossing the pass that leads into the Muong Hoa Valley marks a striking geographical and cultural transition. This mythical valley, cradle of ancient civilizations, reveals its secrets through landscapes of rare beauty.

Arriving at Hau Thao Village is one of the highlights of your journey. The sweeping views over the valley offer exceptional photo opportunities, but it is above all the encounters with the inhabitants that leave the deepest impression. A picnic lunch amidst the rice terraces transforms the meal into a moment of contemplation, surrounded by this age-old natural architecture. You begin to understand why Sapa continues to fascinate travelers from all over the world.

The day ends with a stay in a homestay hosted by a Dzay family, offering a new perspective on the region’s cultural diversity. Each ethnic group has its own traditions and worldview, greatly enriching your understanding of this unique human mosaic.

Day 3
Hau Thao village - Giang Ta Chai village - Hanoi (B, L)

Your final day in the mountains begins with a trek through lush rice terraces, revealing all their morning splendor. The dew on the young rice shoots, the play of light through the mist, and the precise gestures of farmers at work create a living tableau of striking beauty. A visit to a waterfall offers a refreshing interlude during your journey. Weather permitting, the chance to swim here provides a welcome moment of relaxation after the hike. Hidden in a green sanctuary, this waterfall perfectly embodies the unspoiled nature of this exceptional region.

You then reach Giang Ta Chai Village, home to three different ethnic groups — Dzay, Hmong, and Dao — a perfect illustration of Sapa’s multicultural richness. Observing the interactions between these communities, their distinct clothing, and their unique traditions greatly deepens your understanding of this complex region.

A picnic lunch in Su Pan marks the symbolic end of your mountain immersion. The walk to Thanh Kim Village provides a gentle transition back toward urban life. In the afternoon, return to Sapa by private car (departing at 2:30 PM for Hanoi), giving you one last chance to admire the landscapes that shaped your journey, before taking the bus back to Hanoi. Arrival in the capital is expected around 9:00 PM.
