In late September and early October, a few typhoons can disrupt journeys, so build in some flexibility. In winter (January–March), the climate turns cool — sometimes cold at altitude — with reduced visibility. The panoramas are less photogenic, but the authenticity of the villages and homestay encounters more than compensate.
