Itinerary

Day 1
Hanoi - Cat Ba island - Lan Ha bay (L, D)

  • 7:30 AM – Departure by bus from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter (if your hotel is outside the Old Quarter, we will provide the nearest meeting point).
    10:00 AM – Arrival at Pha Got pier, where you board a speedboat or ferry.
    11:00 AM – Arrival on Cat Ba Island. You continue by bus to the southern part of the island.
    12:00 PM – Arrival at Beo Pier.
    12:30 PMBoarding the junk. Welcome drink and cruise briefing with your English-speaking guide.
    You’ll have some time to observe the floating fishing villages from the boat’s deck.
    Lunch is served on board as the boat starts cruising.

    1:30 PM – The boat stops near Van Boi beach (or a similar spot). Enjoy a taste of Vietnamese seafood-based cuisine in a peaceful setting.
    2:45 PMSwimming time at Van Boi beach, a completely wild and untouched spot with no artificial structures — or simply relax and admire the stunning scenery from the upper deck.
    3:45 PM – The boat sails deeper into the bay, toward Ba Trai Dao or Dau Be for a beautiful off-the-beaten-path kayaking experience — a unique way to explore the bay.
    5:30 PM – The boat returns to a peaceful area in the middle of the bay and drops anchor for the night. Free time to enjoy a drink and watch the sunset in a magical setting.
    6:00 PMCooking class (menu may vary).
    7:15 PMDinner served on board.
    8:30 PM – Free evening or try your hand at squid fishing.

    Note: The order of activities may vary depending on weather conditions.

Day 2
Lan Ha bay - Hanoi / Tam Coc (B, L)

Wake up surrounded by nature – and why not start the day with a Tai Chi session on the deck to energize your body and mind?

7:00 AM – Breakfast on board
7:45 AMBike ride to Viet Hai village, a peaceful and isolated community nestled in the heart of Cat Ba National Park
Around 10:00 AM – Return to the boat. Time for a quick shower before checking out of your cabin as the junk cruises back toward Beo Pier
11:00 AMBrunch/lunch served on board
Around 11:45 AM – Disembarkation. End of the cruise
Transfer back by bus to Hanoi or Tam Coc (Ninh Binh)

FAQ

The Moonlight, Romance, and Quatre Saisons junks are small boats and do not have a full-time guide on board.

You can hire a English-speaking guide to accompany you on the boat. The guide will travel with you from Hanoi.

For all other junks, there is an English-speaking guide on board who will facilitate all activities during the cruise.

Everything is included except:

  • Drinks (other than bottled or carafe water in your cabin)
  • Personal expenses
  • Tips for the crew

Yes, tipping is customary in Vietnam and depends on your level of satisfaction.

If you have a private guide, the expected tip is usually higher.

Not at all. Today, all cruise operators adapt to guests’ dietary preferences.

By default, transport is shared.

If you choose a cruise in Lan Ha Bay, you will take a Daiichi bus to Beo Pier, then a ferry or speedboat to Cat Ba Island.

For Halong Bay or Bai Tu Long Bay cruises, transportation is provided by the cruise company’s bus.

If you prefer, you can book a private car (7 or 16 seats).

Yes, it’s possible to go to Tam Coc (Ninh Binh) after a cruise in Lan Ha Bay, Halong Bay, or Bai Tu Long Bay.

This is usually arranged with Daiichi transport.

Note: from Cat Ba Island, the journey is quite long – allow more than 5 hours by road.
