Itinerary

Day 1
Hanoi/Tam Coc - Cat Ba - Lan Ha bay (L, D)

7:30 AM – Departure by bus from your hotel in Hanoi’s Old Quarter (if your hotel is not located in the Old Quarter, we will inform you of the meeting point).
10:00 AM – Arrival at Pha Got, board the speedboat / ferry.
11:00 AM – Arrival on Cat Ba Island, continue by bus to the south of the island.
12:00 PM – Arrival at Beo Port.
12:30 PM – Start of the cruise. Welcome drink and briefing with your English-speaking guide. Take a moment to admire the fishing villages from the deck of the boat. Lunch will be served on board while the boat begins to cruise.
1:30 PM – The junk stops in front of Van Boi Beach (or another spot) for lunch and a first introduction to Vietnamese cuisine, mainly based on fresh seafood.
2:45 PM – Time for swimming at Van Boi Beach, which is completely wild and untouched, or simply relax and contemplate the beauty of this wonder from the boat’s upper deck.
3:45 PM – The boat will take you further into the bay towards Ba Trai Dao or Dau Be for a beautiful kayak excursion off the tourist tracks, another way to discover the bay.
5:30 PM – The boat returns to the middle of the bay and drops anchor for the night. Free time to enjoy an aperitif and admire the sunset in a magical setting.
6:00 PM – Cooking class (menu may vary).
7:15 PM – Dinner on board.
8:30 PM – Free evening or try your hand at squid fishing.

Day 2
Lan Ha bay (B, L, D)

Wake up in the heart of nature, and why not start the day with a Tai Chi session on the deck to energize yourself!
7:00 AM – Breakfast on board.
7:45 AM – Cycle to visit Viet Hai village.
10:00 AM – Take a walk in Cat Ba National Park. Visit a cave in the park before arriving at a very old traditional house, where you will be welcomed for lunch with a local family.
1:00 PM – Return to the pier, then continue your cruise on board the junk towards Dau Be for a beautiful excursion, another way to explore the bay in more detail.

At the end of the day, the boat sails back towards Lan Ha Bay for the night. Enjoy the sunset from the deck. Dinner and overnight in the middle of the bay.

Day 3
Lan Ha bay - Cat Ba - Hanoi/Tam Coc (B, L)

We recommend waking up early to watch the sunrise (around 5:30 AM).
Breakfast on board around 7:00 AM.

At 8:00 AM, the junk continues sailing through Lan Ha Bay, passing close to the most beautiful peaks and rock formations. You will visit a floating house where the locals raise fish.

Return to the boat around 10:00 AM. Time for a shower before checking out of your cabins as the junk heads back to Beo Pier.

11:00 AM – Enjoy a brunch on board.
Disembark around 11:45 AM. End of the cruise.

FAQ

The Moonlight, Romance, Ocean 4 cabins and Four Seasons are small boats and do not have a full-time guide on board.

You can hire a English-speaking guide to accompany you on the boat. The guide will travel with you from Hanoi.

For all other junks, there is an English-speaking guide on board who will facilitate all activities during the cruise.

Everything is included except:

  • Drinks (other than bottled or carafe water in your cabin)
  • Personal expenses
  • Tips for the crew

Yes, tipping is customary in Vietnam and depends on your level of satisfaction.

If you have a private guide, the expected tip is usually higher.

By default, transport is shared.

If you choose a cruise in Lan Ha Bay, you will take a Daiichi bus to Beo Pier, then a ferry or speedboat to Cat Ba Island.

For Halong Bay or Bai Tu Long Bay cruises, transportation is provided by the cruise company’s bus.

If you prefer, you can book a private car (7 or 16 seats).

Yes, it’s possible to go to Tam Coc (Ninh Binh) after a cruise in Lan Ha Bay, Halong Bay, or Bai Tu Long Bay.

This is usually arranged with Daiichi transport.

Note: from Cat Ba Island, the journey is quite long – allow more than 5 hours by road.
