Founded in the 14th century, Luang Prabang was once the capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom—literally the “Land of a Million Elephants.” For nearly three centuries, the city flourished as the cultural, political, and spiritual heart of Laos, blending royal heritage with Buddhist traditions.
During this three-day journey, you will explore not only the city’s remarkable history but also the stunning natural surroundings. On the program: the mystical Pak Ou Caves, filled with thousands of Buddha statues, and the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfalls, where turquoise pools invite you to relax.
On your final day, you will have the chance to witness the moving morning alms-giving ceremony, as saffron-robed monks walk silently through the streets to receive offerings—a timeless ritual that embodies the spirit of Luang Prabang.
A circuit designed to let you slow down, savor, and truly experience the charm of this exceptional city.
Welcome at Luang Prabang Airport, transfer to your hotel for check-in and lunch.
In the afternoon, visit Vat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple in the city, built in the 16th century; Vat Visounarat with its famous “Watermelon Stupa”; and nearby Vat Aham. Continue with a climb up Mount Phu Si to enjoy the sunset over the city.
On the way back, stop at the colorful night market. Dinner at your leisure and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, take a boat cruise to the Pak Ou Caves, located 32 km upstream. On the way, stop at the “Whisky Village” to see the production of Lau Lao, the traditional rice whisky. Continue to the caves for about an hour’s visit, where thousands of Buddha statues are kept.
Afterwards, travel by car to visit Ban Xang Khong, a weaving village also known for its production of handmade mulberry paper, located 12 km from Luang Prabang.
Return to Luang Prabang in the late afternoon. Dinner at your leisure and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to the Kuang Si Waterfalls, located 29 km from Luang Prabang. Enjoy views of the countryside along the way, with a stop in a Hmong ethnic village. At the waterfalls, you will have the opportunity to swim in the cool, turquoise pools. Picnic lunch on site.
Return to Luang Prabang in the mid-afternoon.
Very early in the morning, around 5:45 AM, depart for Ban Vat Sean to witness the morning alms-giving ceremony of the Buddhist monks, a long procession of saffron robes.
Return to the hotel for breakfast and check-out. Then visit the Royal Palace Museum before your transfer to the airport.
