Even with limited time, it’s possible to enjoy an unforgettable experience by visiting the highlights of Northern Vietnam: Hanoi, Ninh Binh, and Halong/Lan Ha Bay.
Begin your journey with an immersion in Vietnam’s capital, Hanoi, where tradition and modernity blend seamlessly. Wander through the bustling alleys of the Old Quarter, discover iconic historic landmarks such as the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum or the Temple of Literature, and soak up the city’s unique atmosphere around its lakes and charming cafés.
Next, head to Ninh Binh, often referred to as “Halong Bay on land.” Here, enchanting landscapes await: lush green rice fields, spectacular karst formations, and winding rivers to explore by sampan. The sites of Tam Coc or Trang An offer moments of serenity and contemplation unlike anywhere else.
Finally, end your journey with an adventure in Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. Enjoy a cruise at the heart of this natural wonder, with activities such as kayaking, swimming, cave exploration, and relaxing on deck.
In just a few days, this itinerary allows you to discover the best of Northern Vietnam, combining culture, nature, and relaxation. A short journey, but one filled with lasting memories.
The breathtaking limestone islands of Lan Ha Bay, along with kayaking and cave visits, will leave you with unforgettable impressions of Vietnam’s cultural heritage and stunning natural wonders.
Your guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel at 08:00 AM.
Start the day with a visit to the Ba Dinh District, including the Palace of the Governor-General of Indochina, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, his stilt house, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Continue to the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university.
Your driver will then drop you off in the Old Quarter, where you will enjoy lunch featuring cha ca, one of Hanoi’s specialties.
In the afternoon, take a walk through the Old Quarter and visit the Dong Xuan Market. Later, relax with an egg coffee (or another drink) at the famous Giang Café.
End the day at the iconic Train Street, now a lively tourist attraction. In the evening, the street is beautifully lit, and you can watch the train pass by several times.
Return to your hotel at the end of the day.
Depart from your hotel at 08:00 AM for Ninh Binh, about a 2-hour drive from Hanoi. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and take bicycles for a ride around Tam Coc, including a visit to Bich Dong Pagoda, a charming Buddhist complex nestled in a limestone mountain with stunning views over the surrounding rice fields.
After a local lunch where you can taste specialties such as cơm cháy (crispy rice), continue to Hang Mua Mountain. Climb the 500 steps to enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Tam Coc’s rice fields and karst landscapes.
Return to your hotel in the afternoon to relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Your guide and driver will pick you up early to visit the Trang An eco-tourism complex before the arrival of tourist buses. Enjoy a sampan boat ride, gliding through mysterious caves and enchanting landscapes. Continue to Hoa Lu, Vietnam’s former capital, where you will visit the temples dedicated to Kings Dinh and Le.
Return to Tam Coc for lunch, then in the afternoon explore the Phat Diem Cathedral, a true architectural masterpiece blending Vietnamese and European styles.
A day full of cultural discoveries before heading back to Tam Coc.
