Ba Be National Park

Overview

The Tranquility of Vietnam’s Largest Freshwater Lake

Stop here for peace and serenity.

Located 260 km north of Hanoi, Ba Be freshwater lake was listed among the world’s 20 most beautiful natural lakes by the World Freshwater Conference in 1995. A few years later, it was recognized as part of ASEAN’s official heritage and may one day even be classified as a UNESCO site. Quite a track record — and a strong suggestion that this is a place worth discovering. Even more so as the lake is part of a National Park that protects a rich and diverse ecosystem.

Visiting Ba Be National Park is above all about reconnecting with nature and enjoying silence — only occasionally broken by the sound of your boat on the water. A boat trip and the discovery of caves carved into the rock over centuries make for a wonderful experience, as does hiking along the many trails within the park. Afterwards, you can continue your journey northwards feeling refreshed and re-energized.

We are particularly fond of this place, which is why we offer a three-day excursion that allows you to fully enjoy the park while also meeting its inhabitants, especially the Tay people.
