Cat Ba island

Overview

Discover Cat Ba Island during your stay in Halong Bay!

Cat Ba Island is the largest in the archipelago of the same name, which includes a total of 367 islands. It is home to a National Park that has remained largely untouched and has been recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve since 2004. This recognition is due to its remarkable biodiversity: pristine tropical forests, limestone mountains, mangroves, and an impressive range of wildlife with 1,560 plant species, 53 animal families including 160 species of birds, 45 reptiles, 21 amphibians, as well as over 1,300 marine species. The island also offers many activities such as hiking, cycling, and relaxing on its beaches.

Cat Ba Island is also the departure point for our cruises through Lan Ha Bay, which extends around the archipelago. Our programs include a unique experience: crossing Cat Ba Island by motorbike. Upon arrival (most often via ferry), our local partners will be waiting to take you on a one-hour ride to Ben Beo pier, where you will board your junk.

This excursion allows you to discover the island’s lush vegetation as well as its coastline.

We recommend staying an extra day on Cat Ba Island after your cruise to hike in the National Park, explore some caves, or enjoy the panoramic views from Cannon Fort.
