Overview

Ninh Binh, the “Halong Bay on Land” – A Historical, Cultural, and Natural Site

Ninh Binh is the name of a province located in the Red River Delta, as well as its capital city (as is often the case in Vietnam). Around this city, you will find many fascinating sites to see and visit.

First of all, you will be delighted to see again the limestone karst formations you may have admired in Halong Bay. Ninh Binh is indeed called the “Halong Bay on Land”. Here, the rocks do not rise from the sea but from the land – equally impressive and serene! Several sites are worth exploring, such as Trang An (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Tam Coc (where the river winds through rice paddies), and the less-visited yet charming areas of Van Long and Thung Nham.

You may also visit Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam, discover the vast Bai Dinh Buddhist complex, or simply enjoy a bicycle ride through the surrounding countryside, stopping at several centuries-old pagodas.

A visit to Ninh Binh combines perfectly with a cruise in Halong Bay or Lan Ha Bay. We recommend spending at least 3 days and 2 nights to fully appreciate these two beautiful destinations without rushing.
