Our answers to your questions
Can we have an English-speaking guide with us?
All our tours in Northern Vietnam include the presence of an English-speaking guide to accompany you throughout your stay. This ensures an optimal experience: you will receive all the necessary information, be able to ask questions with ease, and enjoy authentic interactions with local people.
The only exception is the trek in Hoang Su Phi, which can be done without a French-speaking guide. For smaller budgets, we offer an option with a local escort. Although he speaks only a few words of English, he will take care of all on-site arrangements—meals, accommodation, and logistics—for a worry-free adventure.
What is the best time to visit Northern Vietnam?
Northern Vietnam can be visited at any time of the year, with each season offering its own unique charm. Spring (April–May) and autumn (October–November) are the ideal periods thanks to pleasant weather and low humidity.
Summer (June–September), marked by the rainy season, brings heavy showers and high humidity, but it is also when the terraced rice fields reveal their most dazzling beauty.
In winter (December–March), temperatures can drop below 10°C in the plains and down to 5°C in the mountains, so warm clothing is necessary. However, the weather is generally dry, making it perfect for highland treks and clear panoramic views.
Is it possible to stay with a host family?
Yes, staying with a host family is absolutely possible, and we highly recommend it for an authentic and immersive experience. On your own, it can be difficult to arrange, but with our tours, you will benefit from our network of local families ready to welcome travelers.
Your guide will be there to facilitate exchanges and help you gain a deeper understanding of local cultures, especially those of the ethnic minorities with whom you will stay in the mountains. A true immersion, offering unforgettable moments of sharing!
How much does a private tour cost?
The cost will depend on the number of participants in your group. For a group of 2 people, plan for a budget between $110 and $165 per person per day. This rate includes the rental of a private car with driver, the services of a French-speaking guide, accommodations, activities, and much more.
The larger your group, the more advantageous the price per person will be. We often recommend traveling in groups of 4 to 6 people to enjoy attractive rates while still maintaining a comfortable and personalized experience.
