Explore Central Vietnam with your English-speaking guide
As you travel south through Vietnam, you’ll likely want to rest after the beautiful hikes of Northern Vietnam. The destinations of Central Vietnam are just perfect for that.
But before you allow yourself to fully unwind, we recommend visiting Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, home to some of the largest caves in the world—no less! The park has become a top adventure tourism destination in Southeast Asia, and for good reason. We can help you arrange several days exploring its caves and natural wonders.
Next, immerse yourself in Vietnam’s modern history with a visit to Hue and its Imperial Citadel. You won’t regret discovering this city, also renowned for its refined gastronomy. Afterwards, the beaches of Da Nang and the ancient port town of Hoi An will be waiting for you, the perfect spots to relax during your journey.

Good to Know Before Visiting Central Vietnam
Visitors are often charmed by the warm welcome of the people living in Central Vietnam and by the lighthearted atmosphere that reigns there. In our opinion, the weather plays a big role, as the temperatures are much milder than in the South—though there is also a very intense rainy season! It’s therefore important to choose the right time to visit if you want to avoid getting soaked.
During the high tourist season, you’ll definitely not be alone in the Hoi An area… While it may still be possible to feel like an explorer in Northern Vietnam, that has become much harder in the Central region. That said, it is still possible to discover the surroundings of Hoi An in peace and quiet.

Central Vietnam Climate
From Hue southwards, the climate changes noticeably, with the year divided into two main seasons: the dry season from February to July, and the rainy season from August to January. The best time to visit Hue, Da Nang, and Hoi An is generally between February and the end of May, when conditions are dry, sunny, and pleasant.
After that, the wet season gradually sets in, bringing heavier and heavier rainfall, often culminating in powerful typhoons towards the end of the year. By November, it is not uncommon to see Hoi An flooded, transformed into a little Venice where boats replace bicycles in the streets.
This seasonal rhythm is part of the region’s unique character, and while the rains can be disruptive, they also add a dramatic and unforgettable dimension to the experience of Central Vietnam.
Food Specialties of Central Vietnam
Central Vietnam’s cuisine is deeply influenced by the imperial gastronomy of Hue’s former royal court. Refined yet spicier than elsewhere in the country, it is the pride of the region and recognized as some of the very best food in Vietnam. The emblematic dish is Bún Bò Huế, which you simply cannot miss during your stay in the city.
For food lovers, we can arrange a guided food tour in Hue, giving you the chance to sample a wide variety of dishes while experiencing the city in a different light after nightfall. To learn more, we also invite you to discover our list of 20 must-try dishes in Vietnam.
