Why choose a Vietnam and Laos tour?
While Vietnam shares its southern border with Cambodia, it also borders Laos to the north, making it both possible and easy to visit Northern Vietnam (and even Central Vietnam) along with Laos on dedicated tours focused on discovering stunning landscapes and mountain communities.
Both Vietnam and Laos are home to numerous ethnic minorities whose lives are shaped by the rhythms of agricultural seasons in the mountains. By choosing a combined Vietnam and Laos tour, you can discover the culture of several different groups along your journey — from the Hmong in Northern Vietnam to the Khmu, considered the earliest inhabitants of Laos.
Such a tour also allows you to explore remarkable destinations, including Lan Ha Bay and Ninh Binh (the so-called “terrestrial Halong Bay”), Northern highlights like Sapa, Ha Giang, Mu Cang Chai, and Pu Luong, as well as Luang Prabang in Laos.

Discover Laos
Like Vietnam, Laos went through a very deadly war of independence, receiving from the Americans an unimaginable number of bombs — more than during the entire Second World War. With just over 6 million inhabitants, the country is developing gradually and now relies heavily on tourism. Landlocked between Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar, Laos is promoting nature- and discovery-based tourism, especially in its mountainous north. The landscapes of Laos, around Vang Vieng and further north beyond Luang Prabang, are truly worth admiring!
In addition to its mountain scenery, Laos has a rich history that can be discovered above all in the city of Luang Prabang. The city’s Buddhist temples have been beautifully restored, allowing you to immerse yourself in the history of the Lan Xang kingdom (1353–1707), of which Luang Prabang was the spiritual capital.
The Lao people, diverse and deeply rooted in their traditions, will also charm you with their kindness.

Climate of Laos
Like Vietnam, Laos is a long, narrow country with a similar tropical climate. The dry season lasts from November to late February, with relatively cool temperatures in the north during this period — in Luang Prabang, the mercury can even drop close to 0°C. From March to June, the country experiences intense heat before the rains bring some relief (though it still remains hot). April is particularly scorching, with highs ranging from 35°C to 42°C. The rainy season runs from late May to October, with September being the wettest month of the year.
Laos cuisine
Sticky rice (khao niao) is the staple food in Laos. It is most often served in small bamboo baskets. The way of eating it may remind some travelers of their journeys in Africa: roll the rice into a small ball and dip it into the dish — almost like using bread! You will also taste traditional dishes such as laap, a salad made with meat and plenty of aromatic herbs. In Luang Prabang, you can enjoy the famous grilled sweet sausage as an appetizer. Lao cuisine is in many ways similar to Thai cuisine, which means it can be quite spicy!
