The Romantic Destination of Southern Vietnam
Dalat is a city located in the southern part of Vietnam, in the Central Highlands region.
The city enjoys a unique climate thanks to its altitude, which has earned it the nickname “the City of Eternal Spring.” Temperatures never fall below 10°C and never rise above 25°C. This mild weather attracted the French colonial administration, who sought a cool retreat from Saigon’s tropical heat. It was the famous physician Alexandre Yersin who first introduced this remarkable region at the end of the 19th century. A few years later, Dalat became Indochina’s first hill station.
Today, with its ideal climate for flower and fruit cultivation, Dalat is a favorite destination for travelers, especially Vietnamese visitors. Known as the “City of Flowers,” it is also celebrated as Vietnam’s “City of Love,” where many couples choose to spend their honeymoon.
There is much to explore in and around Dalat — it is not just a city but a whole region filled with fascinating sites. Highlights include the “Crazy House,” an audacious architectural project reminiscent of Alice in Wonderland; Lang Biang Mountain, said by legend to be the birthplace of the Lat ethnic group; and the colonial-era train station with its vintage train still in operation.
We also recommend spending time in the city’s eco-friendly cafés, a great way to truly appreciate what makes Dalat so unique.
