Vietnam’s new glass-bottom suspension bridge, called Bach Long and recently certified by Guinness World Records as the longest in the world, promises to attract crowds of thrill-seeking tourists to Moc Chau district, in Son La province.
A record-breaking structure
We’ve all seen those hilarious viral videos of people trembling as they cross the glass-bottom bridge for the first time. Today, the bridge is open to everyone — a unique opportunity to get an adrenaline rush without any real risk!
It was on April 28, 2022, shortly after Vietnam reopened to international tourism, that the country’s newest glass-bottom bridge was opened to visitors. Named Bach Long, which means “White Dragon”, the bridge is located in the Moc Chau district of Son La, a province bordering Laos about 200 km northwest of the capital, Hanoi.
The transparent bridge is the third glass bridge in the country, after the Rong May Bridge (in Lai Chau) and the Love Bridge (also in Moc Chau). So, what makes this third glass bridge special? Quite simply, it is now the longest in the world, surpassing the Chinese bridge in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province, which previously held the Guinness World Record title.

A feat to attract tourists
The bridge sits 150 meters (492 feet) above a forest, has a width of 2.5 meters, and a total length of 633 meters (2,073 feet). A portion of the walkway clings to the side of a mountain, while 290 meters stretches across a gorge between two peaks. Brave travelers will enjoy panoramic views from the bridge, feeling completely immersed in the surrounding nature. After crossing, you can visit the Mường Mộc Cave, also known as Chim Than Cave. There is also a children’s playground, a restaurant, and a resort nearby to make the trip even more interesting. The bridge is part of a tourist complex called Moc Chau Island
The attraction has already been a success: on its opening day, the bridge welcomed over 4,000 people. In the first three days, a total of 15,000 visitors walked across it.

Is it really safe?
Rest assured, the bridge was built to international safety standards. The walkway is made up of three layers of reinforced glass, each with a thickness of 40 millimeters. There is also a strict system in place to guarantee that the bridge is never overcrowded. Authorities are confident in the strength of the glass — before opening to the public, an SUV even drove across the walkway! The glass did not crack

What to do nearby
Admittedly, a glass‑bridge isn’t for everyone. If you are prone to vertigo, there are many other reasons to visit Moc Chau, known for its cool climate
It is home to pine forests, 3,000 hectares of tea plantations, and fascinating villages of mountain ethnic tribes. You can hike to viewpoints like Pha Luong and Ta Xua, or go to the beautiful Dai Yem waterfall.
In February and March, plum, peach blossoms and orchids bloom — many Vietnamese travel there during the Lunar New Year (Tết).
In March, Moc Chau hosts the annual Het Cha festival in the village of Ang (Dong Sang commune). This vibrant, colorful celebration of the Thai (Thái) ethnic community is something special to see.

How much does it cost?
There are two types of tickets: one for Moc Chau Island and one specifically for crossing the bridge.
During public holidays and weekends:
Bach Long Bridge: 650,000 VND per adult; 450,000 VND per child between 1.0 m and 1.4 m tall.
Moc Chau Island visit: 150,000 VND per adult; 100,000 VND per child (1.0 m–1.4 m)

How to get there
The Bach Long bridge and Moc Chau Island are only about 10 kilometers from the town of Moc Chau. Here is how to get there from Hanoi:
Located about 200 km from the center of Hanoi, travelers can go from Hanoi to Moc Chau via National Route 6 heading northwest.
If you don’t have a car, you can take a coach (bus). The trip takes about 4 hours and costs 220,000 VND (around 10 USD). You can take a bus from the Giáp Bát, Mỹ Đình or Yên Nghĩa stations in Hanoi. Moc Chau is a stop on buses whose final destination is Son La or Điện Biên (look for those names on the front of the bus).
For more comfort, there are limousine‑buses. Xuân Trang Limousine offers daily transport from Hanoi to Moc Chau; the journey also takes ~4 hours. The first bus departs at 6:30 AM, the last at 7:00 PM.
